New and Exciting Updates for 2021-2022

We have renovated and are excited to offer an expanded and updated Kindergarten Suite. We have 4 classrooms in our Kindergarten suite which will house 2 kindergarten classes. Each class has 2 adjoining rooms; one is set up to provide large group instructions as well as breakout spaces for reading groups. The second classroom is set up with learning centers where the children will be engaged in more active learning.

We are thrilled to announce that we will be launching a new STEM (Science/Technology/Engineering/Math) lab which will be staffed with a full time trained STEM teacher. Students will explore the areas of science, engineering, technology and math while developing problem solving, interpersonal and communication skills. STEM will be a specials class for our 3s, 4s and Kindergarteners and it will also be offered as an enrichment class opportunity.

Did You Know?

It has been a hugely successful year for DUMCP. Not only was in-person learning safely provided all year, DUMCP also passed the 5 year accreditation review with very high accolades! Accreditation is an optional process for a school, but one DUMCP feels is very important in order to make sure excellent standards are maintained and continual improvement is prioritized. Cognia (formerly SACS/AdvancEd) accreditation is based on a set of rigorous research-based standards and evidence-based criteria.  The accreditation process examines the whole institution- its policies, programs, practices, learning conditions, and cultural context- to determine how well the parts work together to carry out the school’s vision and meet the needs of every child.  After lengthy observations, self-assessments, interviews with stakeholders, surveys, etc., the review team unanimously recommended DUMC Preschool for re-accreditation.

In today’s world, you can never be too careful. We put the highest level of emphasis on the safety and security of our children and staff. The building stays locked with just one way in. Within the larger building, all preschool areas remain locked with key fob access only. Staff and the police officer on premise are the only ones with access. There are security cameras on hte premises as well as at our preschool interior doors. We employ a City of Dunwoody police officer to be on site each school day.

Maintaining developmentally appropriate practices, keeping up with educational trends and researched based data is important to assure our curriculum is comprehensive, streamlined and as up to date as possible, in order to meet the needs of our students and prepare them for the next level of learning. Our Curriculum Coordinator continually monitors the curriculum and its effectivness and makes additions or adjustments as needed.
